At last, a key legislator has spoken to a most pressing need if RI is to get out from under already large and growing budget deficits: government consolidation. In light of state revenues off by $100 million just 3 months into the new fiscal year, Senate Finance Chairman Dan Daponte is quoted in today's Providence Journal as ready to take a close look at "municipal and school consolidation throughout the state of Rhode Island."
The attached is really scary. The government seems to be trying to do so many things at one time that there is little closure on anything. The tendency to spend like crazy is really setting the next generation (as well as our own,) up for major problems. Thoughts??
