Twin River owners want to eliminate dog racing at the former Lincoln Greyhound track because it costs more than it takes in. Some 225 employees would be laid off if dog racing is eliminated. Cancelling dog racing, however, requires legislation by the RI General Assembly, which has already allowed Newport Grand to end jai-alai games. If Newport Grand has been allowed to forego jai-alai, why shouldn’t Twin River be allowed to end dog racing? Neighboring Massachusetts is slated to end dog racing at its tracks in the near future. What do you think: Should dog racing be eliminated at Twin River?
