Does This Sound Like a State You Know?

Hawaii may be a paradise of sorts but apparently when it comes to government it's an almost bankrupt paradise. The state is facing a $1 billion deficit, is closing schools and shortening the school year, homelessness is on the rise, and food establishments aren't being inspected for lack of inspectors.

Can we not recognize our own Ocean State, hardly a paradise in the best of times, in the Aloha State's troubles?

  1. Misery loves company. Sounds just like Little Rhody only with a few more zeros.

  2. I've heard a lot of Rhode Islanders say "When it gets too bad here, I'll move out of state". As taxpayers, we're all dressed up with no place to go. Every state is a mess thanks to years of corruption and inept management.

  3. Spy Glass is right about that. This is not the typical recession where things might be better in other states. I'm here in RI (and I grew up here) only because this is where I can make a living, believe it or not. But once I'm put to pasture I'm heading elsewhere.
