Now there's a game afoot to change the state's name. You can make up your own mind next election day.   1. This is just more silly revisionism and political correctness gone too far. The state should be proud of its name, wherein the intended use of the word "plantations" has nothing to do with slavery. Even Keith Stokes, an African-American himself and the head of the Newport Visitors Bureau, has attested to that fact.
