Auto Company Ownership

Auto Company Ownership: What's Your Opinion?
American taxpayers now own over 60 percent of General Motors and a decent portion of Chrysler. The government may have to put another $30 billion-plus into GM as it emerges from bankruptcy. Do you think we will ever see a return on our investment with these struggling auto companies? And would you consider buying a GM or Chrysler car within the next six months?

  1. I do not understand why other auto manufacturers are not challenging the constitutionality of this based on the fact that they are being forced to pay tax dollars that will be used to prop up a competitor. The Federal Government has selected a company to receive financial support - essentially rewarding past poor performance with money confiscated from their competitors. Somehow, it seems that this must violate the Constitution or at least the spirit of one or more of our many Trade Laws.
